Amy Mitchell, CFA, helps clients understand their finances, get organized, and feel confident in making sound financial decisions. Amy’s approach is thoughtful and calming. She believes that financial education is a cornerstone of holistic wealth management and enjoys empowering her clients, especially women, by sharing her deep investment and financial planning expertise.
Amy brings decades of experience and a diverse background in finance and investments to her clients and the Hemington team. Prior to her previous roles as a financial advisor at other independent wealth management firms, she worked at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, serving in financial reporting, capital markets, and the Chairman’s office. She served for a year as a Brookings Institution legislative fellow for a U.S. Senator who sat on the Senate Banking Committee. Amy is also a founder of a consulting business that provided customized financial services to nonprofits and small business owners.
Amy is a Chartered Financial Analyst® charterholder. She is a member of the CFA Institute, the CFA Society of Washington, and the Financial Planning Association. In 2017, she earned a Certificate in Financial Planning from Georgetown University and passed the CFP™ exam. She is a graduate of Hood College with a B.A. in Management and Finance.
When not working, you will find her hanging out with her husband and three children – playing games and enjoying the great outdoors. She is passionate about service to others and regularly volunteers in community organizations and her children’s schools.
