The InvestmentNews Best Places to Work for Financial Advisors award showcases the top financial advice businesses that go beyond offering financial advisors attractive benefits and perks, creating workplaces that empower employees with the skills and confidence necessary to deliver the best possible investment and financial planning guidance to clients.
Over 44,000 nominations were vetted by methodology headed by SHOOK Research. Eileen and Jen were selected through qualitative and quantitative industry research focused on finding advisors who are leading the way in offering best practices and providing a high-quality experience for clients.
Every 18-24 months, Washingtonian Magazine asks hundreds of people who work in the local financial industry whom they would trust with their own money. DC’s Best Financial Advisers are the people who received the strongest recommendations. The Hall of Fame Award requires being named a Top Financial Adviser at least eight of the past 14 years, including three of the most recent five.
The Five Star Wealth Manager award recognizes professionals in the financial services industry who are committed to excellence and provide quality services to their clients. Fewer than 7% and 6% of those considered for the awards were named to the 2023 lists in Chicago and Washington DC, respectively.
Northern Virginia Magazine surveyed financial professionals in the region and asked them to recommend other financial professionals to whom they would refer family and friends. Those who received the most nominations made the list.

Eileen O’Connor and Jen Dawson were invited to speak at Portfolio Summit’s inaugural Women in Independent Wealth Summit, held in Oregon’s Willamette Valley. Eileen was a member on the Women in Leadership panel, sharing her experience as an industry leader and owner, and Jen provided a case study session on The Power and Peace of Specializing.

Jen Dawson was recently recognized by NAPFA members as an advisor whom they believed deserved to be recognized for her professional accomplishments and commitment to promoting women within the profession. She hosts regular women’s networking events and is a volunteer leader and co-founder of the mentorship program of NAPFA’s Women’s Initiative.
Jen Dawson was invited to speak to Imprivata’s members on a live webinar focused on building wealth for women. She addressed financial challenges specific to women and provided her expertise on how to get control of one’s finances, have confidence in investing, and gain clarity with one’s financial plan. Eileen O’Connor was delighted to return to her alma mater, The University of Virginia’s McIntire School of Commerce, as a guest lecturer. She shared her journey from student to business owner for fourth year Entrepreneur majors.

Eileen has been widely published and has been quoted in hundreds of publications on various wealth management issues. Selected from hundreds of women leaders in all aspects of finance, Eileen was thrilled to be included in the second only such list by Investment News. She was invited to participate in a think tank at the awards ceremony in NYC, where women leaders discussed and debated the shortage of women in finance and how the group could be a force for change. Investment News dedicated the March issue to the honorees.
